New wound vacuum dressing may cut groin surgery complications

NCT ID NCT02581904

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tested a special vacuum dressing called Prevena placed on groin incisions during vascular surgery to see if it lowers wound complications like infection, reopening, or fluid buildup. The trial involved 140 high-risk patients having femoral incisions for artery repair or aneurysm treatment. Results will show whether this device reduces hospital stays, readmissions, and the need for additional surgeries.
