NICU reading & mouth exercises may boost preemie feeding and language

NCT ID NCT05861531

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether combining gentle mouth exercises with a reading program helps preterm babies (born 23-30 weeks) learn to feed and develop language skills. About 124 infants will take part, and researchers will track how quickly they start feeding by mouth and how much they vocalize. The goal is to find a simple way to support both feeding and language development in the NICU.
