Breathing pure oxygen before surgery may prevent stomach problems
NCT ID NCT07274488
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looked at 128 adults having gallbladder surgery to see if giving them pure oxygen before anesthesia (instead of using a mask to help them breathe) could reduce stomach bloating. The researchers checked if patients needed a tube to deflate their stomach and if they had a sore throat afterward. The goal was to find a safer way to prepare for surgery.
