Breast cancer drug trial halted early: what happened?

NCT ID NCT03535506

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving the drug palbociclib before surgery could help people with a very early form of breast cancer called DCIS. The plan was to enroll 24 people, but the study was stopped early with only 17 participants. The main goal was to see if it was even possible to run this type of study, not to prove the drug worked.
