A simple chat before surgery may calm patients waking up from anesthesia

NCT ID NCT06686511

First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at whether counseling patients before nasal surgery helps prevent agitation when they wake up from anesthesia. 256 adults having nasal surgery were split into two groups: one received standard care, the other got extra education about what to expect. Researchers measured how many patients became severely agitated after surgery. The goal was to see if a simple talk could make recovery smoother.
