New drug may shield unborn babies from devastating virus

Summary
This study tests if a medicine called letermovir can stop the CMV virus in unborn babies better than the current treatment valaciclovir. Pregnant women who caught CMV early in pregnancy and whose baby is infected will receive one of the two drugs. The goal is to see if more babies are virus-free at birth and have fewer long-term health problems.
