Ambulance blood tests could keep thousands out of emergency rooms

NCT ID NCT07503470

First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving ambulance crews a portable blood-testing device helps them decide if a patient can safely stay home instead of being rushed to the hospital. About 1,500 adults who call 911 will take part. Half of the ambulance teams will use the device; the other half will provide standard care. The goal is to see if the test reduces unnecessary hospital trips without putting patients at risk.
