Paramedics use ultrasound to spot hidden heart failure

NCT ID NCT07549334

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving paramedics a lung ultrasound device helps them correctly diagnose heart failure in people having trouble breathing. About 1,000 adults with shortness of breath will get the ultrasound along with standard care. Researchers will compare their diagnosis to what the hospital finds, and see if the ultrasound changes treatment or improves survival.
