First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether high-intensity interval training (HIIT) can help repair lung tissue in people with severe COPD who are waiting for lung volume reduction surgery. 24 participants will be randomly assigned to either a HIIT exercise program or usual care. Researchers will measure changes in lung tissue proteins and other health markers to understand how exercise might affect the lungs.
