Egg donation study seeks genetic clues to prevent dangerous pregnancy complication
NCT ID NCT07178652
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looks at why women who get pregnant using donated eggs have a higher risk of preeclampsia, a serious condition involving high blood pressure. Researchers will collect cheek swabs from over 2,300 mothers, children, and egg donors to analyze specific genetic markers (HLA-C and KIR). By comparing those who developed preeclampsia with those who did not, they hope to identify genetic combinations that raise risk, which could lead to better screening and care.
