Ultrasound may spot liver risk before stem cell transplant

NCT ID NCT04141735

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether ultrasound and elastography (a special type of ultrasound) can help predict a serious liver condition called sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS) before patients receive a stem cell transplant. Researchers followed 114 adult patients at a French hospital to see how often SOS occurred and if imaging could catch it early. The goal is to improve detection and prevent complications.
