Blood test could give early warning for newborn breathing crisis

NCT ID NCT07394322

Summary

This study aimed to find out if measuring a specific protein (Interleukin-6) in a newborn's blood could help doctors predict which babies exposed to meconium during birth will develop a serious breathing condition called Meconium Aspiration Syndrome (MAS). Researchers tested 120 full-term babies born with meconium-stained fluid. The goal was to see if this blood marker could provide an early warning, allowing for quicker treatment.
