Blood test could warn of dangerous newborn breathing condition

NCT ID NCT07394322

Summary

This study aimed to see if measuring a specific protein (Interleukin-6 or IL-6) in a newborn's blood could help predict which babies will develop a serious breathing problem called Meconium Aspiration Syndrome (MAS). The research involved 120 full-term babies who were born with meconium-stained fluid. The goal was to find an early warning sign to help doctors identify and care for at-risk infants sooner.
