Silent crystal hunt: the scan that could warn of gout years before pain strikes
NCT ID NCT05434858
Summary
This study aims to see if special scans (ultrasound or dual-energy CT) can spot tiny uric acid crystal deposits in people with high uric acid but no symptoms. Researchers will follow 21 participants for 5 years to see if those with visible crystals are more likely to develop painful gout. The goal is to find a warning sign that could predict who will get the disease before symptoms start.
