Preemie feeding clues: Baby's mouth reflexes may predict future eating troubles

NCT ID NCT07495709

First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at 80 very premature babies (born at 26-27 weeks) to see if their reactions to mouth stimulation at 29 weeks can predict feeding difficulties at 36 weeks. Researchers will record these reactions and track how well the babies feed later on. The goal is to create a simple test to spot feeding problems early, helping doctors support babies before they leave the hospital.
