Preemie mouth test may predict feeding troubles

NCT ID NCT07495709

First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at 80 very premature babies (born at 26-27 weeks) to see if their reactions to mouth stimulation at 29 weeks can predict feeding difficulties at 36 weeks. Researchers will record how babies respond to gentle mouth touches and track their feeding progress. The goal is to create a simple test to identify feeding problems early, helping doctors provide better support before the baby goes home.
