New model aims to predict thyroid surgery challenges before the first cut

NCT ID NCT06671184

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study aims to create a simple tool (called a nomogram) that helps doctors predict how difficult a specific type of thyroid cancer surgery will be before they start. The surgery, called transoral and submental thyroidectomy, is done through the mouth and under the chin to avoid a neck scar. Researchers will study 500 patients to find out which factors make the surgery harder, such as longer operation time or higher risk of nerve injury.
