Blood test may flag seniors at high risk for Post-Surgery confusion
NCT ID NCT07297017
Summary
This study is testing whether a simple pre-surgery blood score can predict which elderly patients are most likely to develop sudden confusion (delirium) after hip fracture surgery. Researchers will enroll 168 patients aged 60+ and check their blood for markers of inflammation and nutrition before surgery. They will then track who develops delirium after the operation to see if the score is an accurate warning sign.
