Scan before treatment could tell doctors if cancer therapy will work

NCT ID NCT07208487

Summary

This study looked back at 41 cancer patients to see if a special type of scan (a PET/CT) taken before treatment could predict how well a therapy involving implanted radioactive seeds would work. Researchers found that one specific measurement from the scan, called Metabolic Tumor Volume (MTV), was the best predictor. A higher MTV was linked to a worse outcome, meaning this scan could help doctors decide if this treatment is the right choice for a patient.
