Simple scan could tell doctors if cancer treatment will work

NCT ID NCT07208487

Summary

This study looked back at 41 cancer patients to see if a special type of scan (a PET/CT) taken before treatment could predict how well a radioactive seed implant would work. Researchers found that one specific measurement from the scan, called Metabolic Tumor Volume (MTV), was the best predictor. A higher MTV meant the treatment was less likely to be successful, which could help doctors and patients make more informed choices.
