Searching for a blood test to predict brain bleeding in tiniest babies
NCT ID NCT02400853
Summary
This study aimed to find a marker in umbilical cord blood that could predict which very premature babies are at highest risk for a serious brain bleed in their first week of life. Researchers measured specific proteins and genetic factors in 175 infants born before 30 weeks of pregnancy. The goal was to identify babies early so that future preventive treatments could be started right away.
