Searching for a blood test to predict brain bleeding in premature infants
NCT ID NCT02400853
Summary
This study aimed to find a marker in umbilical cord blood that could predict which very premature babies are at highest risk for a serious brain bleed called intraventricular hemorrhage. Researchers measured levels of certain proteins and looked at genetic variations in 120 infants born before 30 weeks of pregnancy. The goal was to identify babies at birth who might benefit from future preventive treatments.
