Health card data may predict antibiotic resistance in UTIs

NCT ID NCT02292160

First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at whether information from a national health insurance card—such as past antibiotic use and hospital stays—can help predict if a person's urinary tract infection (UTI) will be resistant to standard antibiotics. Over 1,100 adults with community-acquired UTIs took part. The goal was to see if this data could guide doctors in choosing the most effective antibiotic from the start, potentially simplifying treatment and reducing the spread of resistance.
