Pre-Pregnancy coaching shows promise for healthier moms
NCT ID NCT06765304
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a structured, four-week education program based on the transtheoretical model (stages of change) could help women aged 18-49 improve risky lifestyle behaviors before pregnancy. 108 women who were sexually active and planning pregnancy within two years took part. The program covered planning, preparation, action, and sustainability. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce risky behaviors and promote healthier habits before conception.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- transtheoretical model-based education program
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this could provide a simple, low-cost way to help women adopt healthier habits before pregnancy, potentially reducing pregnancy complications.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, completed study without a treatment drug, so results may not apply broadly. Behavior change is hard to sustain long-term.
