Balloon vs stent: which is better for clogged heart arteries?

NCT ID NCT07277114

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether a drug-coated balloon works as well as a drug-eluting stent for people with severe calcium deposits in their heart arteries. About 656 adults will first have the calcium broken up with special tools, then receive either the balloon or the stent. Researchers will track heart-related events like heart attacks or repeat procedures for one year to see which option is safer and more effective.
