Fluid before knife: study tests if Pre-Op IVs stop blood pressure drops
NCT ID NCT05079269
First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving fluids through an IV before surgery can prevent dangerously low blood pressure caused by anesthesia. About 550 adults scheduled for major non-cardiac surgery who are at higher risk (older age or with heart or kidney issues) will take part. Half will get extra IV fluids before anesthesia, and the other half will not, to see if it helps keep blood pressure stable.
