Botox before belly surgery: breathing breakthrough?

NCT ID NCT06485440

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether injecting botulinum toxin (Botox) into the side belly muscles before a large hernia repair can improve breathing. 30 adults with large hernias had their lung function tested before and after the injections. The goal was to see if the temporary muscle relaxation from Botox makes it easier to breathe during and after surgery.
