Botox before belly surgery: breathing breakthrough?

NCT ID NCT06485440

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at whether injecting botulinum toxin (Botox) into the side belly muscles before large hernia repair can improve breathing. The toxin temporarily relaxes the muscles, making more room for the surgery. Researchers measured lung function in 30 adults before and after the injection to see if it helped them breathe easier.
