Experimental combo therapy for brain cancer shows promise in early trial

NCT ID NCT01743950

First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tested a special type of radiation (pulse reduced dose rate) combined with the drug bevacizumab in 49 people with recurrent high-grade gliomas (brain tumors). The goal was to see if this combination could help patients live longer. Participants received radiation over 5.5 weeks along with bevacizumab, followed by continued bevacizumab until their disease worsened. The trial was terminated early, but it aimed to control the disease rather than cure it.
