Old blood pressure pill tested as new hope for Veterans' debilitating headaches

NCT ID NCT02266329

Summary

This study tested whether prazosin, a generic blood pressure medication, could reduce the frequency and severity of chronic headaches in veterans and service members who had suffered a mild traumatic brain injury (like a concussion). 89 participants were randomly assigned to receive either prazosin or a placebo pill for several weeks to see which was more effective. The goal was to see if this older, repurposed drug could ease a common and debilitating symptom of combat-related head injuries.
