Could a common heart drug save mothers and babies?

NCT ID NCT03944512

Summary

This study tested whether daily pravastatin, a cholesterol-lowering medication, could prevent severe complications like preeclampsia in pregnant women at high risk. Women with a history of early preeclampsia took either pravastatin or a placebo pill daily from early pregnancy until delivery. The goal was to see if the drug reduced dangerous outcomes for both mother and baby, including maternal death and fetal loss.
