Heart drug trial aims to stop deadly pregnancy condition

NCT ID NCT03944512

Summary

This study tested whether a daily cholesterol-lowering drug called pravastatin could prevent serious pregnancy complications like preeclampsia in women at high risk. It involved about 1,550 women with a history of severe preeclampsia in a prior pregnancy. Participants took either pravastatin or a placebo pill daily from early pregnancy until delivery to see if the drug reduced risks to mother and baby.
