Can a Vitamin-Like pill ease tough schizophrenia symptoms?

NCT ID NCT07393464

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests whether a supplement called pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) can help reduce negative symptoms (like lack of motivation) and improve thinking in people with chronic schizophrenia. About 70 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either PQQ or a placebo for several weeks, and researchers will track changes using questionnaires and brain scans. The goal is to see if PQQ is a safe and effective add-on treatment for these hard-to-treat symptoms.
