Can Self-Injection boost birth control use after abortion?
NCT ID NCT05505435
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at whether people who have an abortion are more likely to keep using a birth control shot (DMPA) if they can inject it themselves at home versus getting it from a nurse. About 263 participants chose either self-injection or clinic injection and were followed for 6 months. The goal is to see if self-injection helps people stay on birth control longer, which could give them more control over their reproductive health.
