First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study tested whether a supervised pole walking program (walking with poles like ski poles) is practical and helpful for older adults living in retirement communities. 53 residents took part in group sessions 2-3 times a week for 12 weeks. Researchers measured if the program improved balance, strength, physical activity, and quality of life, and reduced fear of falling. The goal was to see if this simple exercise could help seniors stay active and independent.
