Summary
This study tested a 12-week pole walking program for older adults living in independent living and retirement communities. The goal was to see if the program was practical and if it could improve physical activity, balance, strength, and quality of life while reducing fear of falling. Fifty-three residents took part, with some starting the program right away and others joining a wait-list control group.
