First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tests a new vaccine (wSp) to see if it can reduce pneumococcal bacteria in the noses of healthy young children who already received a standard pneumonia vaccine. About 320 children will get either the wSp vaccine or a placebo at 7 and 9 months old. Researchers will check nasal swabs and blood samples to measure the vaccine's safety and ability to boost immunity.
