First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests a new vaccine (wSp) to see if it can reduce pneumococcal bacteria in the noses of healthy young children who already received the standard pneumonia vaccine. About 320 children will get either the wSp vaccine or a placebo at 7 and 9 months old. Researchers will check for bacteria in nasal swabs and measure immune responses from blood samples up to 24 months of age.
