New device aims to spare ER patients extra needle pricks during critical infection tests

NCT ID NCT07348289

Summary

This study is testing a special device called PIVO that draws blood for infection tests through an existing IV line. The goal is to see if using this device can reduce the number of separate needle sticks patients need while still providing accurate test results. Researchers will train emergency department staff to use the device and then track how often it's used and whether it affects test accuracy compared to standard blood draws.
