Summary
This study tests whether pirfenidone, a drug already used for lung scarring, can prevent fibrosis in adults with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). About 130 ICU patients will receive either pirfenidone or a placebo. The goal is to see if the drug reduces the number of days they need a ventilator.
