ICU antibiotic dosing under the microscope: new study aims to save lives
NCT ID NCT07167524
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looks at how a common antibiotic combination (piperacillin-tazobactam) is removed from the blood by continuous kidney replacement therapy in intensive care patients with severe infections. The goal is to find the right dose to avoid underdosing (which can lead to treatment failure) or overdosing (which can cause side effects). About 24 adults will take part, and researchers will measure antibiotic levels in the blood and dialysis fluid.
