Stroke clot removal study with diabetes drug shutters after enrolling just one patient
NCT ID NCT05582707
First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026
Summary
This study aimed to see if adding the diabetes drug pioglitazone to a minimally invasive brain surgery could improve recovery after a severe type of stroke called intracerebral hemorrhage. The plan was to enroll 20 adults aged 18-80 with a specific type of brain bleed, but the study was terminated early after only one participant was enrolled. Because it stopped so early, no conclusions can be drawn about the safety or effectiveness of this combination approach.
