Summary

This trial tests whether a 'physical activity on prescription' (PAP) program can help children aged 6-12 with obesity become more active. Over 4 months, children choose activities they enjoy and follow a written prescription for how often and how long to do them. Researchers will measure changes in physical activity, BMI, waist size, and quality of life, and also see how well the program fits into pediatric care. The goal is to find out if this approach is practical and beneficial for kids.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Physical activity on prescription (PAP) — a structured program where children choose physical activities to do for 4 months
What this could lead to
If this works, it could offer a practical, personalized way to help children with obesity become more active and improve their health.
What could go wrong
This is a small feasibility study, so results may not apply broadly. Children may not stick with the prescribed activities, and the program's success depends on healthcare clinics adopting it.
