Light therapy boosts gum cleaning for obese patients?

NCT ID NCT06073704

First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a special light therapy (antimicrobial photodynamic therapy) to standard deep cleaning improves gum health in people with both obesity and gum disease. Twenty-four participants will receive either standard cleaning alone or cleaning plus light therapy. Researchers will measure gum pocket depth, inflammation, and protein changes over six months to see if the light treatment helps control the disease better.
