NCT ID NCT05622721

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether having close contact with pets can protect the gut microbiome from damage caused by antibiotics and lower the risk of C. difficile infection. Researchers will follow 200 adults receiving dental implants who need antibiotics, tracking changes in their gut bacteria and any C. difficile presence over 90 days. The goal is to understand if sharing microbes with pets can help prevent gut problems.
