Doctors test custom ventilator settings to help lungs heal

NCT ID NCT04012073

Summary

This study tested whether customizing the pressure settings on a breathing machine (ventilator) could help patients with severe breathing failure (ARDS). Doctors used a special measurement of lung volume to find the best pressure for each patient, aiming to improve survival and reduce time on the ventilator. The goal was to see if this personalized approach worked better than a standard one-size-fits-all method.
