Scientists test custom cancer vaccine made from Patient's own tumor

NCT ID NCT01753089

Summary

This early-stage trial tested a personalized vaccine for people with advanced melanoma that had spread. Doctors made the vaccine by taking a sample of a patient's own tumor, processing it, and combining it with immune-stimulating proteins into a small, dissolvable tablet implanted under the skin. The main goals were to see if the vaccine could be made safely and if it could trigger the patient's immune system to attack their cancer.
