Stool test could guide smarter antibiotic choice for stubborn stomach bug

NCT ID NCT07533422

First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a simple stool test can help doctors choose the right antibiotics for people whose H. pylori infection did not clear after standard treatment. About 531 adults aged 18-70 who have failed one prior treatment will be assigned to either a personalized antibiotic plan based on stool resistance genes or standard care. The goal is to see if the stool-guided approach leads to higher eradication rates with fewer side effects.
