Smart scan guides doctors to best cancer treatment before surgery
NCT ID NCT07385664
Summary
This study is testing if a special type of PET scan (called FAPI-PET/CT) can help doctors choose the best treatment plan for patients with esophageal cancer that can be removed by surgery. After two cycles of initial drug treatment, patients get the scan. If the scan shows the tumor is responding well, they continue with more of the same drug treatment. If the scan shows a poor response, they switch to a combination of chemotherapy and radiation. The goal is to see if this scan-guided approach leads to better outcomes, including more patients having no detectable cancer left after surgery.
