Warming blankets before surgery may keep patients safer
NCT ID NCT04011462
First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at whether warming patients before surgery (prewarming) helps keep their body temperature normal during and after digestive system operations. A total of 105 adults having elective cancer surgery took part. Some were warmed with a special forced-air blanket for 20 or 30 minutes before surgery, while others received standard care. The researchers also tested a new skin thermometer to see if it works as well as the usual temperature checks.
